Concert – Choir of the Johanneskirche & düsseldorf festival! Orchestra

18. September 7:00 am

A concert evening between heaven and hell, led by Wolfgang Abendroth: in Johannes Brahms’ ‘Song of Destiny’ God’s world collides with the human world. This masterpiece is full of contrasts, restless and filled with light, it is rugged and spherical. The Greek princess Alcestis leads the path from earth to the underworld, along with Handel and also with Daniel Schnyder. The Swiss composer (born 1961) brings the groove to the incidental music of the Baroque composer to his arrangement for chorus and orchestra. In the end it is about Felix Mendelssohn’s Psalm Cantata “Wie der Hirsch schreit” (as the Hart Pants) and it heads up towards heaven once again.
