Tänzer der Kompanie S-E-D von Sharon Eyal beim Düsseldorf Festival

With the momentum of our spectacular 35th anniversary last year still fresh in our minds and hearts, we look forward to kicking off the next festival season in 2026 with renewed energy.
In the theatre tent on Burgplatz, where the heart of the festival truly beats, we will once again encounter top-class international productions, loyal artistic partners and promising newcomers. We will experience acrobatics, dance and music that make us forget time and space, that captivate, move and enchant us.
With the Australian ensembles ‘Circa’ and ‘Gravity & Other Myths’, we welcome two of the world’s finest contemporary circus troupes. For the first time, we are presenting contemporary circus in a church. To mark the occasion, we are offering a special ticket package with the “Down Under Special”.
Scandinavian contemporary circus also has a place in the festival once again. The young Swedish company “Below Zero” is making its German debut with us.
The internationally acclaimed choreographers Hofesh Shechter and Sharon Eyal, who are performing here for the first time with their company ‘S-E-D’, use dance to celebrate life and the accompanying ‘rollercoaster of emotions’.
Mourad Merzouki returns with ‘CIE. Käfig’ and opens the festival with ‘Pixel’, a classic that has been acclaimed worldwide for the past 12 years.
With Oum, Nubya Garcia, Mehdi Nassouli and the vocal ensemble ‘Lyyra’, we are delighted to welcome musicians who could not be more different – yet they are all united by the power of music and the force of renewal.
Following the overwhelming success of our production ‘MASS’, we will once again be presenting a festival finale this year in December with the musical ‘Christmas Tale’ at St. John’s Church..

Welcome to the Düsseldorf Festival 2026!
We look forward to seeing you.
