What a success story: The Big Band of the Clara-Schumann-Musikschule, founded in 1979 by Hans Jürgen Böhm and since 2000 under the direction of Romano Schubert, 2007 awarded the WDR Jazz Prize and 2015 winner of the NRW State Orchestra Competition, has become an indispensable part of the Düsseldorf jazz scene. This year it celebrates its 40th birthday with its new CD “Jazzwalk 4.0” – and yet it is younger than ever. For the young singer, composer and bossa bova saxophonist Sabine Kühlich, this anniversary made her dream of her own big band programme come true. We can listen in – not without having to miss newly arranged, popular standards.
