Fado is the expression of the Portuguese way of life between melancholy, longing and passion. The bittersweet songs originated in the poor districts of Lisbon and were first heard in disreputable pubs. The undisputed queen of Fado was the "fadista" Amália Rodrigues, in whose great tradition Lina also sees herself. The fado singer is educated as a classical opera singer and reinvents fado in an amazing way with her accompanist Raül Refree. Because Refree does not accompany the Fado classics with the traditional guitar, but creates discreet, poetic arrangements with piano and synthesizer, which are completely subordinated to the magic of Lina's haunting voice.
