Ludwig van Beethoven is the jubilarian of this year, whom the furious STEGREIF.orchester honours in a highly unconventional way: inspired by Beethoven's famous 9th symphony, the ensemble mixes elements from the monumental work with folk songs from the musicians' countries of origin with the concert project #bfree. Interwoven with "folk music", the orchestra of 30 young musicians plays Beethoven's "European Symphony" without notes, without conducting and without chairs. In order to open up new approaches to classical music for the audience, the STEGREIF.orchester deliberately breaks with all concert conventions. Instead of chaos, this leads to undreamt-of freedom for improvisation and movement - also in the literal sense, because the musicians move freely in space.
