In the 1990s, the band "Die Knödel" caused a worldwide sensation, as the octet served up a fast-paced mixture under the label of neo-folk jazz: With traditional folk music instruments, including dulcimer, harp, ocarina, double bass, bassoon, violin, trumpet and guitar, the band fused the sounds of traditional alpine folk music with the edgy heroes of modernity such as Igor Stravinsky and Kurt Weill as well as the catchy melodies of film music giant Nino Rota. After a 17-year break, during which the band members pursued international careers in early and new music, the cult band is now reunited.
